Happy Feast of the Guardian Angels!

How can I possible find words to offer adequate thanks to the Holy Guardian Angels? Not only to my own dear angel, but to all of the angels of our family, who have so steadfastly guarded us, body and soul since before our births?

At the birth of each of our babies, we prayed to each angel to learn the name that they wished to be known by us. Many times, my wh and I, after praying independently learned the same names! It helps to increase our devotion, having a personal name to use when we speak to our angels.

Every morning we pray the traditional Prayer to Our Guardian Angels to ask their guidance and protection through the day.

Every night after the rosary, each family member in turn salutes his or her guardian angel by name.

When we travel, we recommend ourselves to their particular care.

When our family members are far away from us, we speak to their angels about them.

We pray to the angels of the eventual mates God has chosen for our children who will be called to the married life.

I think we would truly be lost without our angels!

"He hath given his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." (Ps.90:11)

We spent the afternoon making cornhusk angels. Click here for a play-by-play of how we did it: http://arewethereyet-davisfarmmom.blogspot.com/2007/08/corn-husk-angels.htmlhis is how we did it.

Well, you know how I feel about the Angels, already. I can't thank you enough for making it more public! They are such wonderful allies! I can't imagine life without my dearest Guardian Angel, I salute thee, Paul!

Hi, Anne! A dear teaching sister taught us many years ago that if someone fervently prays to his/her Guardian Angel for its name, the angel will "whisper it in their ear." We have no formal prayer, we just ask. The neat thing is that your angel does somehow let its name be known to you. For us, after praying, a name simply POPs into our heads, and we just know it's the right one. Like I mentioned, my husband and I have prayed independently and were given the same name on several of our children, so we know it works. This is not, of course, a matter of doctrine, but a pious practice, though... It certainly helps foster devotion to our angels, so I can certainly see why God would allow us this favor.
