An Interesting Thought
* hungry wolves surrounding your house (Little House on the Prairie),
* a mudslide trapping you ( Columbia this past December.
* mutant zombie hoardes showing up (I am Legend)
* government taxation on air (*See below)
...one wonders how long one could survive.
Based upon the following quizlet*, with amazingly thorough and penetrating questions (not),
Not too bad I guess for a household of seven people. But, this is only if we boil and eat our leather coats and shoes and possibly our pets, under which circumstances I'm thinking I'd settle for two hundred days and call it good.

Hmmmm...
This blogthing has been going around, so I thought I'd try it out, expecting to land on something like Chutes and Ladders. But, chess? Seriously? This can't be right ~ I'm decidedly not patient... and in my old age, I tend terribly toward the scatter-brained... contradictions and complexities make me crazy.... I am neither brilliant not shrewd.... but ask my kids if I can't predict what they're going to do (and not going to do) at any given time.... (Ha!)
Still, I think I'm more Chutes and Ladders or Hi Ho Cherry-o material, really... Or maybe charades...
You Are Chess |
You are brilliant and shrewd. You can often predict what people will do in the future. You thrive in complex situations. You deal with contradictions well. You can have many streams of though going on at your mind at once. You keep track of things well. You are very patient. You have lots of endurance, even when your energy dwindles |

Remember Dagwood and Blondie? It was a funny papers struggle for Dagwood and Blondie from the beginning. Dagwood's tycoon father had disinherited him. (Imagine anyone thinking Blondie was a golddigger!) It was a tough break for the young cartoon couple, but a stroke of genius by Skip Young. The Great Depression was in full swing at that time, and struggling Americans could identify with Dagwood and Blondie's hard times. And we still relate to them, good times and tough times. It's just easy to identify with their day-to-dayness. Blondie and Dagwood's love match has endured for 75 years now! They began as the quintessential couple of the thirties, but have survived to be just the quintessential couple, period.
How much do you think we have changed our expectations and responsibilities as husbands and wives from the thirties to today? There's a quiz out there to see how we'd do compared to values, habits, and culture of 75 years ago.
102 As a 1930s wife, I am |
Here's how my wonderful, 1930's-style hubby rated:
(He's too sensible to be called Dagwood)
144 As a 1930s husband, I am |
(I filled in his test for him, with perfectly honest answers (Of course!) ~ as he was busy dutifully hanging sheetrock this evening.)

| You Should Be a Doctor |
You are practical, sharp, and very intuitive. Optimistic and energetic, you are a problem solver who doesn't get discouraged easily. You are also quite compassionate and caring. You make people feel hopeful. You're highly adaptable and capable. You do well with almost any curve ball life throws at you. You do best when you: - Are always learning new subjects - Use your knowledge to solve problems You would also be a good therapist or detective. |
*Well, they got me. I'm already a doctor, therapist and detective. As a homeschooling mom, I'm always learning new subjects, and have to use my knowledge to solve problems! I don't know how capable I am at it, but in this vocation you have to be an adaptable, problem-solving type. Energy and optimism are good attributes to have, but, to be honest, mine come and go...
How'd they get this from the fact that I like teal colored waves?
