Some people do the spinning.
Others are just along for the ride.
Some hang on sensibly.
Others cavort with reckless abandon.
And then there are those who just lie in the grass
with their eyes shut.
(It's anyone's guess:
Either the spinning makes them dizzy
or they're sleepy and just don't care.)
Which one are you?
*BTW: These shots were taken Sunday afternoon at Ridgway town park, where the hanging scene in True Grit was filmed. Though they're becoming scarce in suburban playgrounds around this country, noone would dare take this rusty, old, spinning wheel of death out of John Wayne's playground. Tough kids play here. This is real Colorado.
Wonderful! Have a grand day!!! Cathy
ReplyDeleteUm, I'm definitely hanging on sensibly? Or chaotically? I'm not exactly sure. I'm counting down the last days of our summer vacation and I feel like I'm wishing the merry-go-round would just stop spinning. Is that bad?
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the pic of Dan and I think it's Gabe just lying on the grass. So cute!
I LOVED those merry go rounds as a kid and would sit in the middle not hanging on. Now, I would get soooo sick I can not even watch them spin lol
ReplyDeleteDid you drink the water while in Ridgway? ;P Yummy stuff!
As comedian Tim Hawkins would call it, it's the Terror-go-round!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I haven't been on a merrygoround in YEARS!!
ReplyDeleteseems most of the time I spent on one I was alone....and I played ALL those parts!! teeheehee.
I'd be the one getting it moving for others, wishing I could be on it, but knowing I'd be on the grass w/ my eyes shut very quickly and maybe even losing the contents of my stomach. :)
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the Duke, there's a little house down the street from here that he lived in while filming a WWII film here . . . and the pool is still here (where he swam). I just don't know the name of it. ;) Of course, there's a famous surfer in HI named Duke, too, but I'm not talking about him.
Great analogy!
