Where We've Been and Gone and Done Today

We got up bright and early to pack a cooler full of lunch for the big kids to take to Catechism Camp; waved them out the door ("Here's your hat, what's your hurry, kids..."); then Mommy (um, me) milked the goat, cleaned the house and blogged while the boys watched cartoons; then we chilled out for a while and watched Winnie the Pooh and ate Frosted Mimi Wheats; after that, we packed up a picnic lunch and headed off to the Denver Museum of Nature and History, where we saw all our favorite (stuffed) animals -- polar bears, lions, monkeys, owls, and some prodigious dinosaur bones -- but we were so busy yakking and checking out all the manipulatives and videos that we forgot to take pictures.
But, we remembered when we went outside.

So, here 's a little bit of a picture record of the rest of the afternoon -- before the rains came (I declare, we're starting to feel like we're in Seattle these days!):

Here they are, my two cubs, William and Gabriel, climbing up to visit this Mama Bear and her two cubs in the park outside the museum....

And here they are checking out the life-size dinosaur outside the parking garage...

And here we are taking some time to smell the roses in the garden outside the museum...

And here's a little game we played called Try-to-Find-a-Rose-That-Matches-the-Color-of-Your-Shirt...

Gabe chose these roses to match his shirt; we think #2 is the closest.
What do you think?

And here are the pink roses the boys chose to match my outfit. (Gabe took these pictures!)

And here's William, who says his nose is tired from sniffing ~ and there aren't any blue turtle flowers, so when are we going home?

  1. Blue turtle flowers????

Loved the picture where your two cubs are with the bear cubs!
The boys are too cute and what a clever thing to do to entertain them by matching flower colors to clothes...where were you when my own were driving me crazy??

    blessings with hugs,

  4. The roses are just beautiful. A few months ago we were there and I found out a couple of things about the museum that I think are so neat. You may already know both of these things, but they were new to me. Did you know that you can check out books from the library (the one at the museum) and just return them to your local library? Do you know about the hidden elves at the museum? We haven't had a chance to go and look for them yet, but this is the kind of thing my 12 year old loves. Have a blessed day!

  5. Hi Lisa! So fun to be back and read everyone's posts. Being away from home for 10 days is very exhausting! Huhoney and I chased and ran all over the ship trying to keep up with the 3 littleones. We tried to give our son and his wife as much alone time as we could, until the little ones got tired of us! We had a great time and Alaska was amazing! Now I have to sift through 324 photos to see which ones to use on my blog. I loved your post and sunset and skies, and the quich. You have been very busy!
