This is what happens...

...when you put kettle on for tay,

and forget about it.

Poor ivy teapot.

Good riddance to the old burner.

Perhaps now maybe I can get my good old stove (which is sadly languishing in the cold, cold barn) hooked up and running again, dear, dear husband??

See what happened over at Julie's house when she burned up her stove?

I can now add "firefighter" to my resume, just like Julie.

Maybe now I can add my gas range with the lovely griddle back into my kitchen?

  1. Or when you simply turn on the wrong burner and cook your empty teakettle instead of browning your ground beef. I was wanting a prettier kettle anyway.

  2. I'm back from my visit with Mom and my brother in MT. And if you think your teapot is in sad shape consider this. Ron called me yesterday to tell me that the night before he wanted some Eagle Brand pudding and decided to make it (place the unopened can in a lg pan and cover it with water and boil it for 2 hours...) He fell asleep, however, and the pot boiled dry and the can exploded ALL over the kitchen...I arrived home today with the kitchen in remarkable shape except for the ceiling...It's textured and cannot be washed...Well, God be praised that that is all that happened for if he had been in the kitchen at the time, there would have been a serious injury to him...And MY stove is still intact. Hope you get your stove hooked up soon...I think we are going go buy ceiling paint on Monday. I don't guess I can leave him alone without supervision...He's just like one of the kids! God Bless!!! 3. Wow. I left my teapot on before and that hasn't happened to me. I will now be more careful!

  4. Oh, Marie, that IS easy to do, too! Pity is, I just had to retire my beautiful English kettle; it was so old, the hard water had deposited irremovable carbuncles on its innards. So sad. We've had to resort to boiling water in a pot. We've come so low in the world. I hope we both get prettier kettles soon!

Cathy! Welcome home! What a disaster to come home to, though. Goodness! How did Ron break it to you, or did you just notice the stain on the ceiling?? Poor guy; what a mess to have to clean up! I am glad he wasn't around and in the line of fire! Aren't the poor dears like that, though! Sometimes I think mine just wants to make sure I know how much he needs me (Guffaw!)...

Maria ~ What I think happened, was that this was a somewhat inexpensive teapot and the handle caught fire. Then the paint started melting! Boy! Did that stink! I don't think the same thing would have happened to my higher quality kettle. Does pay to be watchful, regardless, though!

  5. While I was at my mother's, safe distance for anyone...he said, "I did one of the dumbest things I have ever done last noc. I am really sorry!" Well, after your heart is no longer in your stomach, you are so relieved that it was not worse than it was there's no point in agreeing with him. Just let it go at that and see what it takes to fix it...and so that's what we did. Actually the pattern on the ceiling is not too bad. I'd almost leave it if it weren't just in one corner of the ceiling. It would certainly be an interesting topic of discussion.
