Meditation for the First Full Week of Lent

Difficulties that God allows, that we don't choose, when offered as gifts of love to our Divine Savior are the most pleasing to God and do the most good for our souls.

We have such a tendency -- don't we? -- to offer up chocolate unflinchingly for Lent, then complain about having to get up early for work -- or deal with ice on our windshields -- or cranky children -- or aching arthritis, etc... Better to eat chocolate during Lent if it's one or the other, and work on our patience with *life* -- something that we can work into a lifelong habit that will help us save our souls.
