First of all, it was Dan's and my 23rd anniversary, and it was May crowning day. Our three youngest participated in the procession, carrying flowers up to the shrine of Our Blessed Mother at the front of the church -- and little William, being the shortest of all the processors, led them up to the altar. And he didn't smirk or act silly or lead the long line on a side-trip down to the doughnuts in the parish hall. Then, after Mass, Father gave Dan and me a marriage blessing -- and Paul and Nicole, who happened to be in town, invited us out to brunch for an anniversary/early Mothers' Day visit.
Paul and Nicole got to the restaurant a little ahead of Dan and me and reserved a table, so when we arrived they were already seated and there was a gift bag waiting at my place. "How sweet," I thought, "a Mother's Day present. They're so thoughtful..."
And then I looked inside....
And
Woohoo!
Congratulations, you guys!
