... actually, we took these photos on Monday. They stopped us in our tracks on the way out to the barn to milk. Are these cool or what? We looked them up; they're calledMammatus Clouds .

I saw a story on the news about these clouds invading NYC and people thought it was some sort of alien invasion! You've captured them very well!!! Great job.

These clouds near the Front Range are beautiful. But are they benign or threatening? Are they fair weather or a mass of precipitation descending from the Rockies? Either or, this is a wonderful picture?
Ralph -- They're the after-thought of a thunderstorm that hit just south of us. &:o) Usually means you've got bad weather coming or going -- but doesn't necessarily mean a tornado, though some people have thought that there was a direct connection. They are cool, though, huh?
