Send Souls to Heaven This Week!

Let's get out there and and be heroes to the Souls in Purgatory! They, in turn, will pray for us here in the Church Militant. There is no greater service you can do a human being. And you'll benefit, too!

To receive a plenary indulgence for the souls in Purgatory: While visiting a cemetery during the Octave of the Feast of the Holy Souls, after a pious Confession and Holy Communion, pray for the intentions of the Church, and offer prayers (silently or out loud) for the dearly departed. A traditional prayer for this occasion is the beautiful de Profundis. Some pray six Our Fathers, six Hail Marys and six Glory Bes. There is not a set of prescribed prayers for the dead that is necessary, so it's really up to you. You may gain this plenary indulgence once each day during this octave!

  1. Thank you for your post on sending souls to heaven. The de Profundis prayer is beautiful. I have never read it before. Is it St. Gertrude who is the patron saint for those in purgatory?

  2. What a wonderful reminder of the service we can give to those who have gone before us!!! Thank you.

I must also tell you that by looking at your pictures, I am very homesick. I live in Indiana but I was born and raised in glorious, beautiful Colorado. May God truly bless you with its beauty. Have not been "home" for two years.
